‘Spicy coconut soup’ is a peppery soup wherein mushrooms are cooked in coconut milk. The flavors of mushrooms blend with coconut milk. It is an ideal soup for chilly winter evenings. Coconut milk gives natural white color to the soup.

  • ½ liter fresh coconut milk
  • 2 slit green chillies
  • 4 mushrooms
  • 1 tsp chopped onion
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp corn flour
  • ½ tsp chopped garlic
  • 1 bay leaf
  • ¼ tsp pepper powder


  • Fry onions, garlic and bay leaf in a pan, without oil for 2 minutes. Add coconut milk and bring to boil. Now add chopped mushrooms and cook in coconut milk till they are done.
  • Remove the bay leaf. Add salt, pepper and cornstarch (corn flour mixed with some water) for thickness. Mix well and cook till the soup becomes thick. Serve hot.
