This is a variation of basic sevai recipe seen above.  You can prepare the sevai first and then variation is easy to make and tasty to eat.  You can nutrition and taste in this variation of your choice.  Here is lemon sevai recipe.

Preparation time: 5 minutes
Cooking time: 2 minutes
Yields: one serving for 4-5 persons


  • Basic sevai 2-3 plates
  • Lemon juice from 1 lemon
  • Salt to taste
  • Urid dal 1 spoon
  • Mustard seeds 1 spoon
  • Turmeric powder 1 spoon
  • Asafoetida powder 1 spoon
  • Green chilies 2-3


Crumble gently the sevai with hands.

Heat oil in a kadai

Add mustard seeds when it splutter add urid dal, green chilies, turmeric powder, asafoetida powder, salt.  Switch off the stove.

Stir in sevai into this mixing it gently not to break or mix too much so that it will mash.

Serve hot with mor kuzhambu or it can be had as it is.
