This cucumber raita is easy to prepare and delicious too. It can be relished in summer to overcome the heat. This raita can be had with fried rice, tomato rice or chapathi and can be made in minutes.

  • 1 cup cucumber, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup curd
  • 5 green chillies
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 tsp ghee
  • 1 tsp oil
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp chopped coriander
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • A pinch of turmeric
  • 3 dry red chillies


Heat oil in a pan, fry cucumber and keep aside. In the same pan fry green chillies and garlic. Pound coarsely.

In a bowl take curd, salt, cucumber and mix well. To this mix garlic-chilli paste. Heat ghee in a pan and let crackle mustard, cumin. Add dry red chillies, turmeric and fry for few seconds. Mix this to the bowl of cucumber and curd. Garnish with coriander.
