Murg Noorjehani

Mughlai cuisine is all about food from the kitchens of Moghal Emperors. This chicken recipe is one of the palatable dishes from the Mughlai cuisine. It is curry recipe that can be had with Mughlai parathas or rice.

Murg Noorjehani dish is named after Nur Jahan, the most favorite wife of Mughal Empror Jahangir.

Ingredients

  • 500 g chicken
  • 250 g chicken liver
  • 25 g cashew nuts
  • 3 tsp tomato sauce
  • 1 ½ tsp ginger garlic paste
  • ½ cup curd
  • 1 egg
  • 100 g onions
  • 250 g tomatoes
  • 2 dry red chillies
  • ½ tsp turmeric
  • 25 g maida
  • 2 g garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • Refined oil for frying
  • 1 ½ tsp red chilli powder

Method

Firstly clean the chicken liver, cut into pieces and mix red chilli powder and salt. Heat some oil in a pan. Fry the liver. Mix tomato sauce and keep aside.

To the chicken mix boiled egg cut into pieces. Mix curd, ginger-garlic paste, maida and salt to this. After 30 minutes fry these pieces in oil.

Heat oil in a pan and fry finely chopped onions, red chillies and garm masala till golden brown. To this add turmeric, chopped tomatoes and cook for sometime. Gravy is now ready.

Boil chicken in this gravy. Then stir in cashew nut paste. Mix this gravy to the chicken liver kept aside. Delicious ‘Murg Noorjehani’ is now ready.
