Onion Fry

If there are onions at home, you don’t have to worry even if there are no vegetables for the day. You can easily prepare delicious onion fry with ingredients available at home. This fry goes well with plain rice and rasam. Onions are fried till brown, which emanate a fine aroma.

Cooking time: 25 mins
Serves: 2


  • 4 large onions
  • 3 tsp peanuts
  • 3 tsp white til (sesame seeds)
  • Salt to taste
  • 5 dry red chillies
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 4 tsp refined oil


Cut onions lengthwise and keep aside.

Heat oil in a pan and fry til and peanuts. Then add onions and fry. Do not cover the pan.

Grind together salt, red chillies and cumin in a mixer to a fine paste. Add this paste after onions are fried. Mix well and remove from flame.

Serve hot with plain rice or with rasam.
