Idli Fry – Dry

Idli is the most famous South Indian Breakfast dish. Usually, Idli Fry is prepared from the left over Idlis for evening Snacks. It’s a Children’s favorite.  Serve it with Tomato Sauce or Tomato Chutney.

Cook Time: 30 Minutes
Serves: 2


  • 4 Idli
  • 1 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste (or make paste by grinding 1 garlic and 2 cms ginger)
  • 2 tbs Corn Flour
  • 2 tbs of All Purpose Flour (Maida as Known by Indians)
  • 1 tsp Red Chilli Powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Finely Chopped Coriander leaves to Garnish


In a Bowl, mix Corn Flour, All purpose Flour, Ginger garlic paste and Chilli powder.

Add Salt and make it as a semi solid paste

Cut Idlis into pieces, like small cubes

Dip Idli Cubes into the semi solid paste and leave it for 5 minutes

In a pan, heat oil and deep fry the Idlis.

Garnish with Coriander leaves and Serve hot.
