Daliya Coconut Halwa

Daliya or broken wheat is highly nutritious and is easily digested. When fried in ghee, it gives a nice aroma and tastes better than other rava. Daliya halwa is served as prasad in Gurudwar. The following recipe is a slight variation of the regular halwa.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup daliya (broken wheat)
  • 2 cups water
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup fresh grated coconut
  • ¼ cup unsweetened khova
  • 2 tsp mixed dry fruits
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • ½ tsp cardamom powder

Method

Heat ghee in a pan and fry the dry fruits. Take them on a plate. In the same ghee, fry daliya till a nice aroma spreads in the air. Add water and cook.

Add sugar, coconut, khova and mix well. Cook till the sugar melts and the mixture leaves sides.

Before removing from fire, add cardamom powder and garnish with dry fruits.
