Khoa Khajoor Rolls

Date fruit has a lot of medicinal benefits and can be easily digested. Khoa Khajoor Rolls are prepared during festivals and the combination of Khoa and dates give a rich taste and nice color to the sweet. Poppy seeds give a unique taste with each bite.

Khoa is a very popular ingredient for a number of North Indian sweets. Koha is prepared from milk which is thickened by heating in an open iron pan.

Makes about 10 rolls

Ingredients

  • 10 g deseeded dates (Khajoor)
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup unsweetened khova
  • 3 tsp sugar or for taste
  • 3 tsp roasted poppy seeds
  • 2 tsp ghee

Method

Boil milk in a pan and cook the dates in milk till soft and milk is reduced. Cool and make a paste. Keep aside.

In another pan, fry khova on a low flame for sometime. Then add the date paste, sugar and ghee and sauté till the sugar melts and the mixture leaves sides.

Cool the mixture for rolling conveniently. Take a small amount of mixture and roll it between your palms. Flatten both the ends; roll them on roasted poppy seeds and serve.
