Chicken Chettinad
Chettinad cuisine is the cuisine of the Chettinad region of Tamil Nadu state in South India. There are many variety of chicken recipes from the chettinad cuisine.
Here is a recipe for chicken curry from this cuisine. Savor the taste of the combine of exotic spices.

Ingredients
For marinade
- 1 kg chicken cut into pieces
- 1 cup hung curd
- 2 tbsp ginger-garlic-chilli paste
- Salt, red chilli powder and black pepper to taste
- ½ tsp garam masala
- ½ tsp chat masala
For masala gravy
- 1-cup onion (chopped)
- 1-cup tomato (chopped)
- 2 green chillies (chopped)
- 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 2 tbsp oil
- Salt and black pepper powder (to taste)
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 10-12 curry leaves
- 2 dry red chillies
- A pinch of asafetida
Method
Mix all ingredients for marinade and add chicken. Refrigerate for 1 hour.
Heat oil in a pan, add mustard, red chillies and curry leaves and fry for 2 minutes. Add chopped onions, asafetida and fry till they turn light brown. Stir in ginger-garlic paste and fry for 2 minutes. Add chopped tomatoes and green chillies and fry for sometime stirring in between.
Add marinated chicken, pepper powder, salt and cook for about 20 minutes or till it is done. Stir frequently. Sprinkle garam masala and mix well.
Serve hot with paratha, naan or rice.
